UV Germicidal Lights

With so many outdoor pollutants and contaminants these days, keeping your home's indoor air quality high is a major concern. There are plenty of products available that can ensure that the air your family breathes is both clean and pollutant-free; there are many types of air cleaners, and each type targets a specific type of contaminant.

No matter what air cleaner you choose – whether to eliminate smoke odors and gases, allergens and dust, large particles, small particles, or all – you've still got to worry about bacteria and viruses. Filters aren't enough; you need something that can destroy them and keep them from re-entering your purified air.

Viruses and Bacteria, Trapped

Homes today are made structurally sound and tight so that climate- and temperature-controlled air cannot escape, and so that outdoor pollutants and contaminates cannot get in. However, despite this, we still bring them in whenever we enter and leave our home, and with such well insulated houses, they cannot escape.

When you have a high-quality home comfort heating and cooling system in your home, you need a well-sealed house to keep it working at its maximum efficiency. Keeping leaks sealed also keeps that climate-controlled air inside – but it also keeps in those viruses and bacteria that you, your family, or your pets bring inside every day. Even a state of the art filtration and purification system won't remove them; bacteria and viruses are living organisms that can escape even the best filters. The best way to eliminate such contaminants is to install UV germicidal lights.

How Do They Work?

As the name implies, UV germicidal lights use UV rays to kill viruses and bacteria. An important addition to any air quality system, they are placed just beyond the filtration device so that the air has already been cleansed of particles and contaminants before reaching the lights. This ensures that the viruses and bacteria have no particles to hide with so that the UV rays will be able to destroy them.

UV germicidal lights use powerful ultraviolet radiation to accomplish their job. You and your family never have to worry about any harm from coming in contact with these rays, however, because the lights will be safely hidden in your duct work with your air cleaner filters. The rays are powerful enough still to eliminate almost any bacteria and virus, which means you won't have to worry about the same germs circulating through the house over and over again.

An Important Part

Obviously, when you want the best indoor air quality you can have, you're going to invest in a high-quality, complete indoor air quality system. Along with the heating and cooling systems, this should include some sort of air purifier, or cleaner, to remove contaminants. Without UV germicidal lights, however, you're leaving an important part of your air quality out; no comprehensive home system is complete without them. Be sure to keep this in mind when you're looking to find the right air purification system for your home.
